How To Find A Great Affiliate Marketing Program

Affiliate Marketing Niche Program – 5 Steps to Finding a Lucrative Program By Jed C. Jones Ph.D.

Affiliate marketing fills an important function in today’s marketing world: the ability for a third-party to represent multiple products created by other people and to earn a commission on them if they are sold.

The affiliate model has three main components: the seller, the affiliate promoter, and the buyer. Of course, when the buyer can easily find the product on his or her own and buys it from the seller, there is no need for the affiliate. But, if the affiliate can find clever ways of connecting buyer to seller, everyone wins.

In a similar vein, most makers/sellers of products are not expert salespeople. Or, they have a strong sales force in place but just want to find ways to expand their sales footprint (i.e., they could always be selling more than they are now).

By enlisting the help of affiliates, the seller gets a no-risk means of making more sales. It is no-risk because the affiliate is not paid anything – unless they sell the product. Pretty good deal for the seller.

And, of course the affiliate benefits because they do not have to come up with a product of their own. Nor do they have to worry about coming up with pricing, shipping/distribution, or other elements of the sales process. They just have to connect buyer to seller and their job is done; and they get paid.

Pretty sweet deal for everyone involved. Of course, to become a successful affiliate, your first task is to find a niche that will potentially be very successful.

If you are looking for an affiliate marketing niche program, here are 5 steps to finding a lucrative program:

1. Get in touch with what you would like to sell:

It is always easier to sell products and services you are comfortable with and have some knowledge about. Ask yourself about which areas of the world you have the most knowledge. Feel free to really brainstorm here and don’t self-edit. Remember, there is literally a product for just about subject or topic under the sun – and most of them have affiliate opportunities attached to them.

2. Locate an affiliate broker site:

Now that you have in mind some idea of what you want to sell, go to a site like Commission Junction, Click Bank, or others to find products to promote. Also, many companies these days offer affiliate programs on their websites which are not available through these brokers. But, a broker is good place to go if you are just starting out in this area.

3. Get to know their internal scoring system:

Now, browse the broker’s available products to promote. Some brokers have systems to help you determine how well the various products are selling. Get to know their system and put together a list of 3-5 products you would like to start promoting right away.

4. Do your keyword research:

If you plan to promote your products online (as most affiliate marketers do these days), you will need to become familiar with keyword research. This, of course, is the art and science of finding keywords that get a lot of daily searches but that have very little competition in your subject area. Look for keywords that are relevant to your topic area.

5. Thoroughly test each niche before giving up or putting too much into it:

Now, for each niche you select for promotion, make sure you put sufficient effort into it to find out whether or not it is a viable niche. In other words, if you take a half-cocked approach to promoting but don’t really make a significant go of it, you will never know whether that niche would have been a good one to promote. You have just wasted your time.

Once you have found a strong niche and have made your first sale or two, you will be hooked. At this point, make sure to invest in the right tools to take your online promotional activities to the next level so that you can sell 10-100 times more product than you are now.

Affiliate Marketing, Is It Still A Viable Business Model?

Affiliate Marketing By Linda Ryckman

One of the ways to make money online is affiliate marketing. This is a marketing practice in which a business rewards you for each visitor or customer you bring to their site through your marketing efforts.

You can be rewarded for the completion of an offer, and the referral of others to the site. This reward can be cash – set amount for each referral or a percentage amount.

There are also sites that offer gifts or points towards gifts for referring customers to their site.

Affiliate marketing is one of the largest growth industries on the Internet, it is estimated that in 2006 affiliates worldwide earned approximately US$6.5 billion from a variety of sources.

Affiliate marketing has become a big business on the internet today, and you can make money online with this method. Affiliate marketing is just using one website to drive traffic to another.

This form of online marketing, which is frequently overlooked by advertisers, can play a significant role in e-retailers’ marketing strategies.

The concept of revenue sharing-paying commission for referred business has been around for a very long time and predates affiliate marketing and the Internet. The translation of the revenue share principles to mainstream e-commerce has been a mainstay on the Internet for many years.

Amazon.com (Amazon) launched its associate program in July 1996. Amazon associates could place banner or text links on their site for individual books, or link directly to the Amazon home page.

Many merchants favor affiliate marketing in most cases it uses a “pay for performance” model, which means that the merchant does not incur any marketing expense.

Many businesses owe much of their success to this marketing technique, and one notable example being Amazon.com.

There are an increased number of Internet businesses and an increased number of people that trust the current technology enough to shop and do business online.

This allows many more opportunities for affiliate marketing and to generate a considerable amount of profit.

There are three primary ways to locate affiliate programs for a target website:
1. Affiliate program directories
2. Large affiliate networks that provide the platform for dozens or even hundreds of advertisers
3. The target website itself. (Websites that offer an affiliate program often have a link titled “affiliate program”, “affiliates”, “referral program”, or “webmasters”-usually in the footer or “About” section of the website.)

Affiliates marketers starting using the pay per click advertising earlier on in their development.

In 2000 Google launched its pay per click service, this alone is responsible for the widespread use and acceptance of pay per click as an advertising channel. An increasing number of merchants engage in pay per click advertising.

There are a number of e-learning sites where you can get a lot of information on working with affiliate marketing.

Affiliate Programs, Benefits Of Two Tier VS One Tier?

How to Use Two Tier Affiliate Programs to Your Advantage

To those who are not familiar with affiliate marketing, “two-tier” could be a new term to you but for those who are already involved in this kind of money-making experience; it usually means a larger and more passive stream of income.

Two-tier is an enticing feature of particular affiliate programs wherein affiliates are allowed to sign-up additional affiliates below them. Whenever the sub-affiliates otherwise known as second tier affiliates earn commissions, the affiliate above receives a commission too.

In two-tier system, the first tier of commission is just like in the usual affiliate program. The sole difference is that it has an additional tier/s or sub-affiliates, whereby marketers also gain a commission once the people that the additional tiers referred to the program generate sales.

If you want to use a two-tier affiliate program to your advantage and generate more income by encouraging sub-affiliates to sign-up below you, make sure that you carefully choose the affiliate merchant you are promoting.

Pick those merchants who generate a stable stream of high quality products, give high or just commissions, offer real time tracking, furnish you with a proven and tested advertising arsenal and a proven track record of treating their affiliates well.

It is also advisable if you engage yourself with a web merchant that has a user-friendly website which you can access anytime so that you can monitor your statistics including visits and sales.

And when possible, choose the one with powerful marketing tools which you can use in promoting their products for your own sales and your second tiers affiliates.

You’re just wasting much of your time and effort and worse, damaging your integrity when you promote poor affiliate programs because your visitors will surely presume that the product or service you are reselling must be low quality also.

That’s a big reason why it is important to pick first-rate affiliate programs.

Through these, you can not only build up a good relationship with your visitor, but also, you can easily get more second tier affiliates to sign-up under you.

Let’s recap and look at some of the benefits from two-tier affiliate programs:

First, your profit will increase due to increased sales from the customers that your second tier has referred.

Second, you will have a much broader customer base to which you can sell your products and services due to your second tier affiliates.

Third, you gain a more stable income because the customers referred by you and your sub-affiliates will probably develop a lifetime loyalty to your site and your product offerings.

Fourth, you have an army of sub-affiliates who will promote and resell your products and services to their visitors and subscribers.

Two-tier affiliate programs have been proven winners and should be the number one choice for budding affiliates. When you start gaining profits from your site as well as your two tier affiliates sales, your passive income streams increase exponentially.

Affiliate Marketing, How To Make Money Selling Other Peoples Products

Affiliate Marketing Is Just Making Money Selling Other People’s Products

A lot of people are now getting into online businesses and affiliate marketing either to supplement their “real world” income or for it to become their primary source of income.

Why? Because online marketing just provides them a lot of benefits!

First, you can reach just about anybody in the world who has Internet access if you market your products online. That means a wider market for you, which can translate to larger profits.

Second, setting up an online business requires only a fraction of the cost required to set up an actual business establishment, which means a lot of savings for the business owner.

Another aspect that has attracted a lot of people towards online affiliate marketing is the fact that one doesn’t have to have his own products to get started.

In online marketing, one can start making a lot of money just by selling, or even by just trying to sell, other people’s products. And getting started with this kind of marketing strategy is actually quite easy.

All that one needs to do is to set up an agreement with an online retailer or merchant, and after everything is settled, one can immediately start making money by selling the merchant’s or the retailer’s products.

Incidentally, the most popular and the fastest growing method of selling other people’s products online is affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing, in its simplest definition, is a relationship between an online merchant or retailer, who has products to sell, and his affiliates, who are willing to promote the merchant’s product on their website.

In a typical affiliate marketing set up, the merchant provides his affiliates with banners and text ads that links to his site. The affiliates will then get these ads posted on their website and they get paid whenever traffic or sales is directed to the merchant’s website.

Affiliates are often paid on commission basis, although other online merchants would opt to pay a fixed fee for the affiliate’s compensation.

Starting to make money online with affiliate marketing is relatively quick and easy. All that one has to do is to sign up as an affiliate for an online company that offers affiliate programs.

An alternative method, and usually an easier one, is to sign up as a member of an affiliate network—a network that hosts a variety of affiliate programs for different online merchants or retailers.

Signing up is usually free, although other companies and networks may require you to pay a particular fee. Such fees, however, are made as payment for additional services that the company may render, like providing you with tools and assistance to jumpstart your online business.

When you sign up with an affiliate marketing program, you are usually required to fill out a form containing information about yourself. Some affiliate programs may also require you to present the URL of your website and describe its contents.

This will allow the retailers to verify that you actually have a website with contents that are relevant to their products. Some affiliate programs, however, won’t require you to have a website. After filling out the form and all, you are then allowed to choose the affiliate programs you want to promote.

After signing up with an affiliate program and being an actual affiliate, you are now ready to start making a lot of money by selling other people’s product online.

How do you make money?

There are actually a number of ways for you to earn money as an affiliate, and most of these ways depends on the type of affiliate marketing program you’ve gotten into.

Many affiliate marketing programs compensate their affiliates in either of three ways: pay-per-click (PPC), pay-per-sale (PPS), or pay-per-lead (PPL).

In pay-per-click affiliate marketing, the affiliate is paid whenever he directs traffic to the merchant’s site.

PPS and PPL affiliate marketing programs work rather differently.

In PPS, the affiliate only gets paid when his referral converts into an actual sale. In typical PPS affiliate programs, the affiliate would usually get 15% to 20% commission for each conversion.

PPL affiliate programs work the same way, although affiliates are paid a fixed fee whenever his referral converts into a lead for the company.

Some affiliate marketing programs are two-tier programs, wherein the affiliate is also allowed to recommend other affiliates to the merchant.

This is where affiliate marketing other peoples products really gets interesting!

In such affiliate programs, the affiliate would not only be paid for the traffic or sales that he would direct to the merchant’s site but also for the traffic or sales directed by the affiliates who signed up with the program through his recommendation.

Yet another way of earning more profits with affiliate marketing is through residual affiliate programs.

Residual affiliate programs are affiliate programs where the affiliate gets paid a number of times for as long as the merchant keeps the customer the affiliate has referred to his site.

One form of residual program gets the affiliate paid a commission every time the referred customer purchases something on the merchant’s site.

Another form of residual affiliate program gets the affiliate paid a percentage every month for as long as the company keeps the referred customer.

With a lot of options available and a lot of ways to earn money, affiliate marketing is undoubtedly the most popular and the easiest way to make money by selling other people’s products online.

As to how much money one can get from affiliate marketing actually depends on the affiliate.

A dedicated and hardworking affiliate would certainly get more from the program compared to those affiliates who would simply sign up and forget about the program later.

More on affiliate marketing later.

Don’t Make These Affiliate Marketing Mistakes!

Here’s How To Avoid The 3 Most Common Affiliate Mistakes

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of earning some money online. An affiliate marketing program gives everybody a chance to make a profit through the Internet, with very little investment to start. Since these affiliate marketing programs are easy to join, implement and pay a commission on a regular basis, more and more people are now entering this business.

However, there can be lots of pitfalls in the affiliate marketing business. Committing some of the most common mistakes will cost the marketers a large portion taken from the profit they are making everyday. That is why it is better to avoid them than be regretful in the end.

Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong affiliate product.

Many people want to earn from affiliate marketing as fast as possible. In their rush to be part of one, they tend to choose a bandwagon product. This is the kind of products that the program thinks is “hot”. They choose the product that is in demand without actually considering if the product appeals to them. This is not a very wise move obviously.

Instead of jumping on the bandwagon, try to choose a product in which you are truly interested in. For any endeavor to succeed, you should take some time to plan and figure out your actions. Make a business plan of sorts.

Pick a product that appeals to you. Then do some research about that product to see if they are in demand. People have to be willing to spend money for you to be successful. Promoting a product you are more passionate about is easier than promoting one for the sake of the earnings only, but the earnings must inevitably come in.

Mistake number 2: Joining too many affiliate programs to start.

Since affiliate programs are very easy to join, you might be tempted to join multiples of affiliate programs to try and maximize the earnings you will be getting. Besides you may think that there is nothing wrong and nothing to lose by being part of many affiliate programs.

True, that is a great way to have multiple sources of income. However, joining multiple programs and attempting to promote them all at the same time will prevent you from concentrating on each one of them.

The result? The maximum potential of your affiliate program is not realized and the income generated will not exactly be as huge as you were thinking initially it would.

The best way to get excellent result is by joining just one info product program that pays a 40-50% commission at least. Then give it your best effort by promoting your products enthusiastically.

So, pick one affiliate product and stay with it from startup to profit. As soon as you see that it is already making a reasonable profit, then maybe you can now join another affiliate program. Diversification comes later when you are already making money online.

The technique is to do it slowly but surely. There is really no need to rush into things, especially with affiliate marketing. With the way things are going, the future is looking real bright and it seems affiliate marketing will be staying for a long time too.

Mistake number 3: Not buying the product or using the service.

As an affiliate, you main purpose is to effectively and convincingly promote a product or service and to find customers. For you to achieve this purpose, you must be able to relay to the customers that certain product and service.

It is therefore difficult for you to do this when you yourself have not tried these things out. Thus, you will fail to promote and recommend them convincingly. You will also fail to create a desire in your customers to avail any of what you are offering.

Try the product or service personally first before you sign up as an affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises. If you have done so, then you are one of the credible and living testaments aware of its advantages and disadvantages. Your customers will then feel the sincerity and truthfulness in you and this will trigger them to try them out for themselves.

Many affiliate marketers make these mistakes and pay dearly for their actions. To not fall into the same situation they have been in, try to do everything to avoid making these same mistakes.

Planning and Timing is key. Take the time to properly analyze your marketing strategy and check if you are on the right track. If done properly, you will be able to maximize your affiliate marketing program and earn higher profits.

Patience and Persistence will take you to your business goals.

How Do I Choose The Best Program Or Product To Promote

How to choose between affiliate programs and products for promotion.

People that are new to affiliate marketing have to face hard decisions.  There are thousands of programs available, and choosing which ones to promote can be difficult. There are thousands of affiliate programs out there.

However, it is better to be selective upfront; promoting the wrong type of affiliate programs can cause you to waste a lot of time and miss out on commissions. Here are some tips to help you choose which affiliate programs are right for you:

Keep Your Target Market in Mind
When comparing affiliate programs, it is important to remember who your target market is. What type of products do they want to purchase? If your target market is people interested in quick and easy meals, putting ads for cell phones on your site doesn’t make sense.

Do You Stand Behind The Product?
Are you proud to promote the product? If you have mixed feelings about the product, don’t promote it. It doesn’t matter how popular a product is or how well it sells; if you wouldn’t recommend the product to a friend, don’t waste your time on it.

Know What You Are Getting Paid For

Most affiliate programs will pay you a commission on the sale of an item; however, some will pay per lead or per click. This information can help you choose between programs. You may think you will earn more with a pay per lead plan, as it may be easier to get someone to click on ad versus buy a product.

However, you could earn more by promoting a product that pays per sale. For instance, if you get paid $1 per lead, you will need 100 people to take action to earn $100. If you get paid 10% commission on a 100 product, you only need 10 people to take action in order to earn the same $100.

Commission Rates
When comparing affiliate programs, don’t be fooled by simply comparing the commission rates; a commission of 20% on a $50 product is $10 while a commission of 50% on a $10 product is only $5. You will earn more by promoting the product that pays a lower commission.

Product Price
If a product is priced too low, you will have to sell a lot of that item in order to earn a decent commission, and if a product is priced too high, there may not be enough people willing to pay for it. When choosing between affiliate programs, try to find a product that is moderately priced – not too low and not too high.

Commission Payouts
Different companies will have different ways of completing your payments. Some may require you to earn a certain amount before they will send you payment; some may only pay at certain times of the month. Know what their rules are before you spend a lot of time promoting a product.

There are just some of the things to research before you spend valuable time and money promoting someone’s products. The idea here is to increase your income online and find the way that is simplest and easiest for you to do it.

How Do I Find Good Affiliate Marketing Programs?

How To Find Affiliate Marketing Programs To Promote

If you are new to affiliate marketing, you may be surprised to learn that finding an affiliate program to promote is actually quite easy. Many companies are aware of the benefits they receive with having an affiliate program; in fact, it is hard to find a company that doesn’t offer one.

Affiliate networks, such as Commission Junction (www.cj.com) and Linkshare (www.linkshare.com) manage the affiliate programs for a vast number of companies. The benefits of going through an affiliate network are: you can find products to suit a wide variety of target markets; you only have to visit one website to create links and track information; and your paychecks will come from one company.

There are downsides, as well. For instance, the company that is offering the affiliate program has to pay the affiliate network a fee for handling their program. This takes away from the amount of money they can offer you. You may be able to earn more by promoting a product that is made by a company that handles their own affiliate program.

You can also find programs simply by visiting the website of a company you would like to partner with as an affiliate. Start scanning the site for a link that says something such as “affiliates”, “associates”, or something along those lines. This may be found at the bottom of the home page or you may have to click on “about us” or “contact us” to get to the right link.

Once you find the right link, there should be information on how you can sign up as an affiliate. There may be a sign up page on the site or the site may refer you to visit another page where you can sign up.

When you fill out the sign-up form, you will either be accepted right away, or the company will let you know they are reviewing your site. Some programs are very selective. They may require that your website have a certain amount of traffic, for instance, or they may want to make sure the content on your site is appropriate for the type of products that they offer.

If you do not get accepted into a program right away, do not worry. There are many other programs to choose from. If you have your heart set on a certain program and you are denied, take some time to build up the traffic on your site and apply again in the future.

If you visit a company’s website and you cannot find any information about their affiliate program, send them an email and ask if they have one. Maybe they have been thinking about starting one and they just haven’t gotten around to it yet. By joining as one of their first affiliates, you may be able to negotiate your commission terms.

Affiliate Marketing Short Forms And Definitions

Internet Marketing Short Forms Defined: PPC, CPC, CPA, PPV

When you start trying to make money online you quickly find yourself faced with a wide variety of acronyms which you may not fully understand. To make things more difficult, most of these are used for both earning money online and spending money online with advertising.

This is not an all inclusive comprehensive guide that covers every unfamiliar term you may come across, but it does cover the most common ones.

PPC = Pay Per Click. Pay per click is used when you’re spending money on advertising, and when you’re making money by selling advertising on your own website. Pay Per Click is as it sounds: a specific amount of money is either paid or earned for each click a given advertisement gets.

CPA = Cost Per Action. This term is also used for advertising products, and for earning money online. Cost Per Action means that a set sum of money will be earned or paid when a specific action is taken. The action could be a sale, but more often than not it is a lead based action instead. A prospect fills out their mailing address to request an information packet or trial product for instance, or they fill in their email address to subscribe to a newsletter. No sale is made in these cases but the desired action was taken, thus the advertiser pays money for that completed action and the person who generated the action earns income for it.

PPV = Pay Per View. Pay Per View is a type of advertising that requires nothing more than an advertisement being viewed. No clicks have to happen, and no sales have to be made. As long as the advertisement is displayed, the advertiser pays for it and the person generating the views earns money from it.

CPM = Cost Per Million. This is actually a hold over from the print world and it’s not quite as it sounds. It actually means “Cost Per Thousand”. An advertiser who pays $1 CPM will pay $1 for every 1000 views of their advertisement. People who have websites which receive a lot of traffic enjoy this way of making money online, because they don’t have to get their visitors to click an ad or buy anything. They simply keep bringing traffic to their sites and they’re paid a set amount of money for every 1000 times ads are displayed.

CPC = Cost Per Click. Cost per click is also fairly self explanitory. And advertiser will pay a given amount of money each time their advertisement is clicked, and thus the online business owner who displays ads on a CPC basis will earn money each time an ad is clicked. This is currently the most common way to earn money online with advertising, and the biggest CPC network is Google.

CTR = Click Through Ratio. A click through ratio doesn’t actually earn you money, but it does allow you to guage how effective the advertising on your website is. CTR essentially tells you what percentage of people who saw an ad actually clicked on that ad. So if you display an ad to 100 people, and one of those people click the ad, you have a 1% CTR.

This is a handy number to know for both advertisers and people making money displaying those ads. A low CTR can indicate that the ad is not interesting to the people who are seeing it, or it’s not placed well on a given website. By making small changes you can improve your CTR, and thus increase the amount of money you’re earning from the ad.

ROI = Return On Investment. ROI is another excellent number to keep track of. Whether you are paying for advertisements or you are running an online business which you want to make money from, knowing your return on investments can help you increase the success you have much faster.

ROI is easy to figure out when you’re spending cold hard cash for advertising. If you spend $100 on an advertisement and only generate $50 in sales, you have a negative ROI. If on the other hand, you generate $200 in sales then you’ve gotten a 100% return. You’ve covered the cost of your ad plus you’ve generated an additional $100 in profits.

ROI is an important metric to track even when you’re not paying for advertising costs though. Even if all you’re doing is writing content on a website which is designed to help you make extra money, you need to know whether the work you’re doing is effective or not.

For example, if you spend 10 hours working on a website and you only make $10 total in a year from that work, then your ROI is quite low: $1 per hour. If however, you earn $1000 in a year from that 10 hours of work, then the ROI is $100 per hour. Once you know the return you’ve gotten, you are more likely to choose to repeat the process that made you $100 per hour and stop doing the one which only made $1 per hour.

These are some of the most commonly used acronyms or short forms, at least it gives you a start.

How To Make Money Online With Affiliate Products

—————————————————-
Al, I’ve seen enough. Take me over to The Super Affiliate Handbook site so I can get more information about how to make money with Affiliate Marketing.
——————————————————

What Kinds of Affiliate Products Can You Make Money With?

Making money online with affiliate products is quite simple to start. In fact, one of the hardest parts of the process is choosing what exactly you’re going to promote. As in any business you need goals and plans. What are you in business to do. What types of products do you want to promote. Decide.

Once you know what you’ll promote however, then it’s just a matter of putting your nose to the grindstone and doing the work required to make the amount of money you want to from it. Again your goals will give you direction in this.

The most common type of affiliate products opportunity online involves earning a commission when the products are sold. Growing in popularity however, are those products which are given away for free or for the cost of shipping, and you earn money as an affiliate because you generated a lead for the company offering the free products and services.

Tangible products that people buy online and have shipped to their home are the most readily available affiliate products to promote online. Every day, millions of people buy everyday items such as electronics, books, jewelry, clothing, shoes, collectibles, gifts, household items, and even food or pet supplies too.

Promoting tangible affiliate products is an excellent way to make quite a bit of money online, because there are litterally millions of products you can sell day in and day out. All one has to do is get his promotions in front of the right target audience.

Since information on the Internet is digital though, another very popular group of products sells quite well online. These are digital information products – products that are downloaded instead of physically shipped to the buyers home.

Commonly sold digital products are software, electronic books, and graphics for websites, even websites themselves can be flipped for a profit. It is a virtually unlimited opportunity online.

Like tangible goods, there are tens of thousands of digital products online which can be promoted as an affiliate marketer, and each time you secure a sale for the merchant you’ll be paid a percentage of that sale in commission.

Many affiliate marketers like to promote digital products because the sales commissions tend to be higher, and customers get instant gratification since they’re able to download their products immediately.

Specialty services are another area that is excellent for affiliates to promote and make money from, because these types of products often involve getting continuous income. Usually referred to as residual, or reoccuring income because the customer is paying for an ongoing service of some kind.

Ongoing services can be something simple that every online business needs such as website hosting, or it can be a professional training program, or some type of hobby or industry related membership site. Membership sites are big these days.

With most of these types of products and services, an affiliate who makes a sale will continuing earning money as long as that sale stays active in the subscription service.

So if you sell a website hosting package for example, and the customer pays their bill each and every month for the next year, the affiliate will earn commissions each month over that year.

As you can see these types of affiliate product sales can be quite lucrative over the long term.

This last type of affiliate product doesn’t usually involve trying to sell anything. Instead, you as the affiliate are trying to provide new “leads” to a business for specific purposes. A lead is someone who is interested in a specific type of product or service, but they haven’t purchased anything yet.

Generating leads for a business usually involves getting prospects to fill out a form for information, or to request a free trial product. They are called CPA’s or Cost Per Action. The companies are willing to pay out for people willing to fill out certain web forms and applications.

Someone who is interested in weight loss products for example, may readily fill out a basic request form to get a free trial of a new weight loss product.

People with cell phones who like music are likely to fill in their cell phone number to get free ringtones.

Someone who has a high interest rate on their home mortgage may fill out an information request form because they’d like to see how much lower their bills could be.

The list of examples is quite long but I think you get the point. As an affiliate for lead based campaigns, all you have to do is get the prospects to take a specific action. And you’ll get paid each time someone takes that action.

Many affiliates really like this approach because they’re not trying to get people to spend money on something, yet they can still earn a very nice income.

Some lead based campaigns will pay the affiliate $1-$2 for simple email address or cell phone number forms, while others pay as much as $40 or higher for more comprehensive and detailed information requests.

The list of opportunities is quite endless and no small wonder that people are moving to affiliate marketing in droves. That’s all for today but next we will tackle some companies that offer affiliate products and how you can take advantage of that. Everone can use a little extra jingle in their pocket right? (actually quite a lot of jingle for those who follow the rules)

See you next time.

How Can I Make Money Online With Affiliate Programs?

I just wanted to touch on the subject of Affiliate Programs. That is how most internet marketers start out making money online.

In fact, all of my websites are based on Affiliate Marketing because I prefer it to having my own products. There are many experts who have so much more specific knowledge and life experience than myself.

They have excellent products already being distributed. Because I use most of them, I have experience that I can share with readers that are looking for effective solutions.

So, What is An Affiliate Program? And how can I make money online with them? How can I improve my income and by how much?

An affiliate program is sales based system which allows you to earn money by promoting other people’s products. As an affiliate, each time a promotion you’ve done generates a sale of a product you’ll earn a specific amount of money in sales commissions.

Affiliate programs are very much like commission based sales job, with the primary difference being that you’re not limited with the products you choose to promote, or the companies you choose to promote for.

There are usually no sales quotas which must be met in order to be allowed to continue trying to earn money from a given product or company, so it is easy to start out.

In most cases, affiliate programs pay a percentage of the sales amount as your commission. The percentage amounts you earn will vary from one type of product to another, and from one company to another as well.

Most affiliate programs are based on selling either digital or tangible products, but there are plenty which allow you to earn money by promoting a service as well.

Digital information products which can be downloaded to a buyers computer after they’ve purchased it tend to pay the highest sales commissions to affiliates, because the companies who sell those products have less overhead expenses to cover.

It’s not unusual to find digital products which offer %50 and even 75% of the sales price in affiliate commissions.

Some will even offer you 100% of the purchase price if they are really trying to expand their reach by increasing customer lists!

Not all digital products pay commission levels that high, and of course how high the commission level is needs to be balanced with the retail price of the product you choose to promote.

A product which sells for $20 and offers %50 in affiliate commissions will only earn the affiliate $10 each time a sale is made. But, that is a $10.00 improvement of your income with very little expense other than your time to set it up.

Tangible products which must be shipped to the customer pay lower percentages in affiliate sales commissions, however these can often be much more expensive products too. So affiliates might earn 10% commissions on treadmill sales, but if the treadmill costs $1000 the affiliate earns $100.

Digital products are usually limited to electronic books, audio mp3s and downloadable software. Tangible products are almost limitless in choice, because you can usually make money as an affiliate promoting anything you can think of that people use in their daily lives.

Some example of tangible products you can earn money from include physical books and software, furniture and home decorating accents, home improvement supplies and tools, hobby supplies and tools, jewelry, gift baskets, shoes, clothing, electronic gadgets and accessories, batteries, cables and cords, car parts, pet supplies, vitamins and supplements, and even food.

As long as the store has a website that allows affiliates to promote their products, you can make money by promoting them.

Affiliate programs sometimes exist for service based businesses too though, and these can be quite lucrative. As an affiliate for a service based business, you make money when you successfully get a prospect to sign up for a specific service.

These services can vary greatly. Common ones include a monthly professional membership service, and website hosting services.

Many affiliates enjoy promoting service based affiliate programs because they can continue earning money for months or years into the future. This ongoing income is often referred to as residual, or recurring income.

Another type of affiliate program which is becoming more popular is known as a CPA, or Cost Per Action program. With this type of affiliate program, instead of getting paid when people pull out their credit cards and pay for a product or service, you simply need to convince them to take a specific action instead.

These actions vary but common ones include having the prospect request a free trial or sample of a product, or having them fill out an information request form for the company.

With CPA affiliate offers, each time the desired action happens the affiliate earns a specific amount of money. Since there are no sales being made, there is not a percentage amount which is paid in commission. This flat fee per action is also referred to as a Pay Per Lead affiliate program.

This is just touching the tip of the iceberg and we will go into this further in later articles. Next up will be affiliate products explained.

See you next time.
