Basic Affiliate Marketing Strategy Tips

Basics of An Affiliate Marketing Business

Basic Internet marketing includes owning a website, creating blogs, ezines, email marketing, using proper keyword phrase, etc. to sell your products online.

1. Have your own website -
Having your own website is a basic step in Affiliate Marketing. Creating your own website is not necessary at first, but it sure helps these days. There are a number of different sites available free online that you could use to create your website. It may be as simple as setting up a free Blogger or WordPress account. You can set up free pages on My Space, Hub Pages, Wiki Dot, or Wet paint, etc.

Or, you could hire a professional to design your site if you could afford to pay a price. But it will be necessary for you to learn HTML at some point so that you could make changes on your site whenever there is a need.

Sooner or later, you will find that you need a good web hosting service for your growing sites. I use Hostgator for all of RGG Publishing sites.

2. Create a blog -
Blogs are one of the most recent and most popular means of Internet marketing today. You could write about your product or services on your blog. You could make use of streaming videos or audios to demonstrate your product online. Blogs set up on Blogger or WordPress are free. You get to advertise about your product without paying a penny and you could also give a back link to your website, which is allowed by most of the blog websites.

3. Advertise -
There are two types of Internet advertising – free and paid advertising. You could make use of both depending upon your budget. Paid advertising mostly includes pay per click advertising, classified ads in ezines, banner ads, purchasing hits to your website, etc. free advertising includes forums, blogs, classified ads, link exchanges, article directories, etc. where you promote your products or service to your target customers  and lead them to your site through a link to your webpage.

4. Ezines -
You publish your own email newsletter through an ezine, which is called electronic mail or email magazine. Ezines are filled with a lot of product information. This is one of the favorite venues used by Internet marketers for their online business.

There are free services that you can use for this but if you are serious about your business, you really need to get a paid service. I went the free route at first.

When I needed to change over to a paid service, many of the subscribers never opted in again. It is really costly if you nuke a list of thousands of subscribers. Better to go with the best on this one. Aweber Communications is the one I use and recommend.

Build up a mailing list of opt in subscribers to whom you send out your product promotions and sales and latest information about your products or services. Adding your website address in your newsletter gets you more traffic to your sales pages.

Email marketing on other website owners’ ezines can get you access to thousands of people about your online business for a reasonable price. You could advertise a landing page that offers valuable information or freebies in exchange for visitor’s name and email address. Placing a sign up form on every web page you create is also helpful in building your mailing list.

5. Keyword research -
Pick out the products you want to promote and then do your keyword research. Do your keyword research before you publish your website online so that you can choose a keyword rich domain name. Good keyword phrases will generate more targeted traffic to your site and therefore higher sales conversions.

A website carefully designed with good colors, chosen keywords, valuable content and good advertising will generate higher traffic and more sales.

High targeted traffic does lead to more sales and profits, but that will be covered in another article. For now, the basic fundamentals will get you going.

Learn Affiliate Marketing, Super Affiliate Handbook Review

Al, I’ve seen enough. Take me over to The Super Affiliate Handbook site so I can get more information about how to make money with Affiliate Marketing.
——————————————————-

Review of the Super Affiliate Handbook

After spending hours researching the best way to make money online, I finally settled on affiliate marketing. There are dozens of “how to” guides and websites online. I have read at least a dozen of them and purchased several programs. All of them have similar information and I have picked out valuable “nuggets” from each.

However, Rosalind Gardner’s Super Affiliate Handbook is by far the best, most comprehensive guide I have read. The Handbook takes you from start to finish and discusses a variety of ways to earn money online. Detailed instructions and many helpful tips are offered.

Rosalind is the ONLY one out there that I have seen who gives specific examples of how she earns her money online. She shows you her own websites and offers her own niche markets as examples. She uses her own specific experiences to illustrate the do’s and don’ts of affiliate marketing.

In this Handbook, there are over 90 specific pictures or figures that are provided to give you exact examples of what a webpage, website, spreadsheet or letter should look like.

There is also technical information provided such as how to set up a website or blog, inserting specific text links or html code and information about web hosting. This provides extremely detailed and easy-to-follow instructions which alone are well worth the $47 price of this ebook.

Super Affiliate Handbook also offers basic business tips as to how to manage your business by staying organized and keeping track of your products. It even has sample spreadsheets for you to copy and use.

In building my online affiliate business, I find myself referring to The Handbook over and over. I have even copy and pasted specific sections into separate documents so I can easily access that information.

The Super Affiliate Handbook runs a whopping 200+ pages and is fairly up to date. There is a detailed and clear Table of Contents to assist you in navigating through the Handbook.

Some of the other programs and guides I have reviewed or purchased are hopelessly outdated. Many of their suggested links are no longer active. While there were one or two of Rosalind’s links which did not work, the vast majority of them were current. The last update of the Super Affiliate Handbook was in early 2010.

This leads me to the only complaint I have about the Super Affiliate Handbook – it contains TOO much information. It covers pretty much everything there is to know about all of the ways to earn money online.

For someone like me who is just starting, it was pretty overwhelming. However, after I read through it completely one time, I went back and began focusing on the information that I needed to get started.

The upside of all of this information is that anyone can benefit from the Handbook – even experienced online marketers can pick up some tips and tricks from Rosalind Gardner’s book.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Super Affiliate Handbook can be your one stop resource for all things related to online marketing. This is a must-have guide for anyone beginning affiliate marketing. It will also appeal to affiliate marketers of all levels as

Rosalind Gardner giving away many of her secrets in this Handbook for a fairly low price. I even read one review that complained she was giving away too much valuable knowledge far too cheaply. I have to tell you – that is fine by me!

Affiliate Programs, Benefits Of Two Tier VS One Tier?

—————————————————-
Al, I’ve seen enough. Take me over to The Super Affiliate Handbook site so I can get more information about how to make money with Affiliate Marketing.
——————————————————-

How to Use Two Tier Affiliate Programs to Your Advantage

To those who are not familiar with affiliate marketing, “two-tier” could be a new term to you but for those who are already involved in this kind of money-making experience; it usually means a larger and more passive stream of income.

Two-tier is an enticing feature of particular affiliate programs wherein affiliates are allowed to sign-up additional affiliates below them. Whenever the sub-affiliates otherwise known as second tier affiliates earn commissions, the affiliate above receives a commission too.

In two-tier system, the first tier of commission is just like in the usual affiliate program. The sole difference is that it has an additional tier/s or sub-affiliates, whereby marketers also gain a commission once the people that the additional tiers referred to the program generate sales.

If you want to use a two-tier affiliate program to your advantage and generate more income by encouraging sub-affiliates to sign-up below you, make sure that you carefully choose the affiliate merchant you are promoting.

Pick those merchants who generate a stable stream of high quality products, give high or just commissions, offer real time tracking, furnish you with a proven and tested advertising arsenal and a proven track record of treating their affiliates well.

It is also advisable if you engage yourself with a web merchant that has a user-friendly website which you can access anytime so that you can monitor your statistics including visits and sales.

And when possible, choose the one with powerful marketing tools which you can use in promoting their products for your own sales and your second tiers affiliates.

You’re just wasting much of your time and effort and worse, damaging your integrity when you promote poor affiliate programs because your visitors will surely presume that the product or service you are reselling must be low quality also.

That’s a big reason why it is important to pick first-rate affiliate programs.

Through these, you can not only build up a good relationship with your visitor, but also, you can easily get more second tier affiliates to sign-up under you.

Let’s recap and look at some of the benefits from two-tier affiliate programs:

First, your profit will increase due to increased sales from the customers that your second tier has referred.

Second, you will have a much broader customer base to which you can sell your products and services due to your second tier affiliates.

Third, you gain a more stable income because the customers referred by you and your sub-affiliates will probably develop a lifetime loyalty to your site and your product offerings.

Fourth, you have an army of sub-affiliates who will promote and resell your products and services to their visitors and subscribers.

Two-tier affiliate programs have been proven winners and should be the number one choice for budding affiliates. When you start gaining profits from your site as well as your two tier affiliates sales, your passive income streams increase exponentially.

Affiliate Marketing, How To Make Money Selling Other Peoples Products

—————————————————-
Al, I’ve seen enough. Take me over to The Super Affiliate Handbook site so I can get more information about how to make money with Affiliate Marketing.
——————————————————-

Affiliate Marketing Is Just Making Money Selling Other People’s Products

A lot of people are now getting into online businesses and affiliate marketing either to supplement their “real world” income or for it to become their primary source of income.

Why? Because online marketing just provides them a lot of benefits!

First, you can reach just about anybody in the world who has Internet access if you market your products online. That means a wider market for you, which can translate to larger profits.

Second, setting up an online business requires only a fraction of the cost required to set up an actual business establishment, which means a lot of savings for the business owner.

Another aspect that has attracted a lot of people towards online affiliate marketing is the fact that one doesn’t have to have his own products to get started.

In online marketing, one can start making a lot of money just by selling, or even by just trying to sell, other people’s products. And getting started with this kind of marketing strategy is actually quite easy.

All that one needs to do is to set up an agreement with an online retailer or merchant, and after everything is settled, one can immediately start making money by selling the merchant’s or the retailer’s products.

Incidentally, the most popular and the fastest growing method of selling other people’s products online is affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing, in its simplest definition, is a relationship between an online merchant or retailer, who has products to sell, and his affiliates, who are willing to promote the merchant’s product on their website.

In a typical affiliate marketing set up, the merchant provides his affiliates with banners and text ads that links to his site. The affiliates will then get these ads posted on their website and they get paid whenever traffic or sales is directed to the merchant’s website.

Affiliates are often paid on commission basis, although other online merchants would opt to pay a fixed fee for the affiliate’s compensation.

Starting to make money online with affiliate marketing is relatively quick and easy. All that one has to do is to sign up as an affiliate for an online company that offers affiliate programs.

An alternative method, and usually an easier one, is to sign up as a member of an affiliate network—a network that hosts a variety of affiliate programs for different online merchants or retailers.

Signing up is usually free, although other companies and networks may require you to pay a particular fee. Such fees, however, are made as payment for additional services that the company may render, like providing you with tools and assistance to jumpstart your online business.

When you sign up with an affiliate marketing program, you are usually required to fill out a form containing information about yourself. Some affiliate programs may also require you to present the URL of your website and describe its contents.

This will allow the retailers to verify that you actually have a website with contents that are relevant to their products. Some affiliate programs, however, won’t require you to have a website. After filling out the form and all, you are then allowed to choose the affiliate programs you want to promote.

After signing up with an affiliate program and being an actual affiliate, you are now ready to start making a lot of money by selling other people’s product online.

How do you make money?

There are actually a number of ways for you to earn money as an affiliate, and most of these ways depends on the type of affiliate marketing program you’ve gotten into.

Many affiliate marketing programs compensate their affiliates in either of three ways: pay-per-click (PPC), pay-per-sale (PPS), or pay-per-lead (PPL).

In pay-per-click affiliate marketing, the affiliate is paid whenever he directs traffic to the merchant’s site.

PPS and PPL affiliate marketing programs work rather differently.

In PPS, the affiliate only gets paid when his referral converts into an actual sale. In typical PPS affiliate programs, the affiliate would usually get 15% to 20% commission for each conversion.

PPL affiliate programs work the same way, although affiliates are paid a fixed fee whenever his referral converts into a lead for the company.

Some affiliate marketing programs are two-tier programs, wherein the affiliate is also allowed to recommend other affiliates to the merchant.

This is where affiliate marketing other peoples products really gets interesting!

In such affiliate programs, the affiliate would not only be paid for the traffic or sales that he would direct to the merchant’s site but also for the traffic or sales directed by the affiliates who signed up with the program through his recommendation.

Yet another way of earning more profits with affiliate marketing is through residual affiliate programs.

Residual affiliate programs are affiliate programs where the affiliate gets paid a number of times for as long as the merchant keeps the customer the affiliate has referred to his site.

One form of residual program gets the affiliate paid a commission every time the referred customer purchases something on the merchant’s site.

Another form of residual affiliate program gets the affiliate paid a percentage every month for as long as the company keeps the referred customer.

With a lot of options available and a lot of ways to earn money, affiliate marketing is undoubtedly the most popular and the easiest way to make money by selling other people’s products online.

As to how much money one can get from affiliate marketing actually depends on the affiliate.

A dedicated and hardworking affiliate would certainly get more from the program compared to those affiliates who would simply sign up and forget about the program later.

More on affiliate marketing later.

Smart Marketing Works, Dumb Marketing Does Not!

I read this article by Willie Crawford while I was perusing The Internet Marketing Inner Circle Private Forum just now, and it contained so much teaching that I really wanted to share it with you. (You can check out the private TIMIC membership site here. If you join, look me up in there.)

Gone are the days where we send out emails and publish websites that do not target a specific audience. Willie explains it much better than I could so here it is.
—————————————————————————–

The End Of Dumb Affiliate Marketing
by Willie Crawford

One of the saddest things that I witness day after day is
affiliate marketers who really struggle to make sales. They
send out email after email, promotion after promotion, yet
often make very few sales.

This is not only sad, it’s also needless “practice bleeding.”
Making affiliate sales is easy when you know the secret. It’s
even very scientific and does have fairly predictable results.

Let’s look at what most affiliates are doing wrong, what I’ve
termed “dumb affiliate marketing” and how that can be easily
corrected.

Before I offend anyone, I should explain that when I use the
word “dumb” I mean untargeted.

I come from a military background, and I think of “dumb bombs.”
Those are bombs that are dropped off of an airplane and they
tumble unguided towards a target. They may or may not hit the
target but once they are released they get no guidance.

A “smart” bomb often has a built in navigation system, and
after it is dropped from an airplane it often flies a
precise, pre-programmed route of flight to a target – often
getting satellite GPS updates enroute. A smart bomb can
be dropped from miles away, and be steered right though a
window on a building that the pilot flying the aircraft never
even sees.

Your affiliate marketing can be just as on-target when you
acknowledge and harness just a little know-how.

Promoting an affiliate product no longer needs to be a
gamble.

First of all, you need to tap into data that is readily
available on which products are already selling. One
source of this data is the blogs maintained during many
affiliate sales contests. Monitor these to see how well a
given product is selling, and to see if you want to invest
your time and effort into setting up a protracted marketing
campaign. You can market many of these products after
the big initial launch is over – often with lessened
competition.

I personally also rely upon my network of friends who
readily share with each other which affiliate products
are proven sellers. Many of us are members of a Facebook
Group called “Affiliate Products Proven To Sell.” If you
are on Facebook, you can join this group for free by
registering at http://timic.org/APPTS

Many affiliates also struggle because they use marketing
methods that are outdated, and simply no longer work. One
newer method that works like CRAZY is using quality videos.
You can now have CUSTOM videos created for you for under
$50 each, and that includes professional voice talent. For that,

I personally use Jason Anderson’s team at:
http://timic.org/ProVideos

These are not PLR videos. They are produced from scratch
and are mini-commercials. Mine are 1-minute because, just
like your audience, viewers of my videos have short
attention spans. So, take a clue from the television
industry. They’ve mastered getting the message across in
30 seconds to 1 minute. You need to do the same.

Another fact that you need to “get” – a fact most
struggling affiliate marketers still refuse to acknowledge
is that your promotion needs to be for just ONE product.
If the purpose of a solo mailing or ezine issue is to
promote a specific product, then just mention that ONE
product in the email.

Without fail, when I’ve tried to promote multiple products
in an email, even if they were all free, overall response
rate significantly decreased. I think that it’s because
when you promote several products in an email, it comes
across as too desperate. Be laser focused rather than
using the shotgun approach.

Many affiliate marketers fail to make sales because they
promote something that they like rather than something
customers are ALREADY buying. With so many great products
out there, I do not believe in being the guinea pig. You
should only promote affiliate products where the product
owner has thoroughly tested market demand AND his
conversion process.

It’s foolish to put time and effort into promoting
unproven products when you can just pick the low-hanging
fruit by offering your customers the products that they’ve
proven to you that they want.

Given that often there are numerous affiliates for a
product that’s a proven seller, you may need to
differentiate yourself from all of the other affiliates.
One easy way to do that is to offer a valuable, related
bonus. I like using unique audio interviews or related
courses as bonuses.

If you’ve taken the time to actually communicate with
your subscribers and customers, your offer isn’t identical
to that made by others marketing the same affiliate product
anyway. Just the fact that it’s YOU, whom your clients
have grown to know, like and trust, that’s marketing the
product… makes it different. The difference is that
purchasing through your affiliate link is less risky.

That is one of the key factors in smart affiliate marketing.
Earn their trust and the sales come a lot easier. I actually
have subscribers email me doing a big product launch ASKING
for my affiliate link. Over the past 13 years, I have
built that kind of customer loyalty. If you work at doing
that, everything else will fall in place.

Now that you know the secret, it’s time to stop doing dumb
marketing. If your sales aren’t what they should be start
by looking at WHAT you are marketing. Is it something that
your customers really want? If it is, then next look at HOW
you are marketing it. Read back through this article for
tips on the profitable way to do that.

How Do I Know I Won’t Fail At Affiliate Marketing?

Failure rates in internet marketing or affiliate marketing are very high. If you want to succeed in this arena, you will want to create good business habits and practice the following strategies.

Every year, more and more people are lured and drawn into affiliate marketing and you might very well be one of them. Indeed, affiliate marketing is one of the most effective means of generating a full-time income through the Internet. It’s a fair deal between the merchant and the affiliates as both benefit from each sale materialized. And very little start up investment is required, so there is opportunity for all that have a computer and internet connection.

Like in other kinds of business, a great deal of the profits in affiliate marketing depends on the affiliate’s advertising, promoting and selling strategies. Everyday, as affiliate marketing industry expands, competition heightens as well so an affiliate marketer must be creative enough to employ unique and effective ways to convince potential buyers to purchase or avail of the products and services offered.

Compared to traditional advertising practices, affiliate programs are more effective, risk-free and cost-efficient. But why do many people still fail in affiliate marketing? There are a lot of reasons and a lot of areas in the program to look into. The most critical aspect in the affiliate program is advertising and marketing.  You must get the word out or no one will find your site. No website visitors, no affiliate sales.

Many affiliate marketers fail because they lack good work habits. This could very well be the chief reason so many fail and is the most important thing in affiliate marketing and in all other kinds of business as well.

Although it pays to be lucky, you cannot merely rely on it. Affiliate marketing isn’t as simple as directing customers to the business site. If you want to earn big, of course, you have to invest time and great amount of hard work in promoting the products.

As earlier mentioned, the competition is very high and customers nowadays are very wise, too. After all, who doesn’t want to get the best purchase—that is, to pay less and get more in terms of quantity and quality.

Lack of preparation is also a reason why one might fail in affiliate marketing.
Part of the preparation is researching. The affiliate site’s visitors must match the targeted customers. An affiliate marketer must research and find good-paying merchants before signing up for an affiliate program.

Ensure that the merchants’ products and services match your interests so you can give your full attention and dedication to the program. Get valuable information by joining affiliate forums, comparing different affiliate programs and reading articles on affiliate marketing where you can get tips from experienced affiliate marketers on how to choose the best merchants and products with high conversion rate.

The website is a very important tool in the whole affiliate program. As an affiliate marketer, you should plan how your site is going to be, from domain name to the design, the lay-out, the content, and ads.

Some users are particular about what they see at first glance and thus when they find your site ugly, they won’t read through the content even if your site has many things to say and offer.

On the other hand, there those who want information more than anything else. Affiliate marketers with “rich-content” web sites are usually the ones who prosper in this business because the content improves traffic to the site.

Websites with high quality content—with relevant keyword phrases and more importantly, right information about the product and not empty hyped-up advertisements—allow you to earn big in affiliate marketing even when you’re asleep.

If you won’t be able to sustain the interest of your site visitor, you won’t be able to lead him to the merchants’ site. No click-through means no sale and thus, no income on your part.

People fail because they fail to do the proper research before choosing a domain name. Selecting a top level domain name is also crucial to the success of the affiliate program. Lots of affiliate sites don’t appear in the search engine results because they are deemed by affiliate managers as personal sites. Major search engines and directories would think of your site as transient ones and thus, they won’t list it in the directory.

Before you decide on the domain name, know first what you are going to promote. Many fail because their sites are not appropriately named, so even when they feature the exact products the customer is looking for, the customer might think the site is not relevant and thus, won’t enter the site.

Affiliates fail because they are not teachable. You don’t have to re-invent the wheel. Follow successful people, and learn from them, and especially from the affiliate program managers. Most of them provide the keys to promoting their products successfully. Remember that they benefit too when you get them sales. An affiliate marketer must be willing to learn what works instead of going off in all directions.

If you want long-term and highly satisfactory results, take time to learn the ins and outs of the business, and care about your customers satisfaction. What are they getting out of the transaction? What value are you going to provide to them? How is what you are doing going to add value to their life?

Continue to improve your knowledge in the basics of affiliate marketing. Study the needs and wants of your site users and how different merchandisers compete with each other.

People fail because they do not persist long enough to succeed. You only fail if you quit before you succeed. I cannot stress this one point enough. Keep on trying; don’t get disappointed if your first attempts do not pay off. Literally thousands of people are attracted by the possibility of generating skyrocketing incomes through affiliate marketing and so they sign up in any affiliate program without carefully understanding every aspect of the business.

When they don’t get instant results, they quit and sign up for another program and repeat the process of just copying links and referring them to others. When you sign up for an affiliate program, don’t expect to get rich in an instant. Work on your advertising and marketing strategies and be patient.

You’ll never know how much you can get if you don’t persevere. You don’t know how well you could have done if only you had kept at it. Every day, you continue, you will find out something new that you can use in your business. You be the one. You be the success story.

Don’t Make These Affiliate Marketing Mistakes!

Here’s How To Avoid The 3 Most Common Affiliate Mistakes

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of earning some money online. An affiliate marketing program gives everybody a chance to make a profit through the Internet, with very little investment to start. Since these affiliate marketing programs are easy to join, implement and pay a commission on a regular basis, more and more people are now entering this business.

However, there can be lots of pitfalls in the affiliate marketing business. Committing some of the most common mistakes will cost the marketers a large portion taken from the profit they are making everyday. That is why it is better to avoid them than be regretful in the end.

Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong affiliate product.

Many people want to earn from affiliate marketing as fast as possible. In their rush to be part of one, they tend to choose a bandwagon product. This is the kind of products that the program thinks is “hot”. They choose the product that is in demand without actually considering if the product appeals to them. This is not a very wise move obviously.

Instead of jumping on the bandwagon, try to choose a product in which you are truly interested in. For any endeavor to succeed, you should take some time to plan and figure out your actions. Make a business plan of sorts.

Pick a product that appeals to you. Then do some research about that product to see if they are in demand. People have to be willing to spend money for you to be successful. Promoting a product you are more passionate about is easier than promoting one for the sake of the earnings only, but the earnings must inevitably come in.

Mistake number 2: Joining too many affiliate programs to start.

Since affiliate programs are very easy to join, you might be tempted to join multiples of affiliate programs to try and maximize the earnings you will be getting. Besides you may think that there is nothing wrong and nothing to lose by being part of many affiliate programs.

True, that is a great way to have multiple sources of income. However, joining multiple programs and attempting to promote them all at the same time will prevent you from concentrating on each one of them.

The result? The maximum potential of your affiliate program is not realized and the income generated will not exactly be as huge as you were thinking initially it would.

The best way to get excellent result is by joining just one info product program that pays a 40-50% commission at least. Then give it your best effort by promoting your products enthusiastically.

So, pick one affiliate product and stay with it from startup to profit. As soon as you see that it is already making a reasonable profit, then maybe you can now join another affiliate program. Diversification comes later when you are already making money online.

The technique is to do it slowly but surely. There is really no need to rush into things, especially with affiliate marketing. With the way things are going, the future is looking real bright and it seems affiliate marketing will be staying for a long time too.

Mistake number 3: Not buying the product or using the service.

As an affiliate, you main purpose is to effectively and convincingly promote a product or service and to find customers. For you to achieve this purpose, you must be able to relay to the customers that certain product and service.

It is therefore difficult for you to do this when you yourself have not tried these things out. Thus, you will fail to promote and recommend them convincingly. You will also fail to create a desire in your customers to avail any of what you are offering.

Try the product or service personally first before you sign up as an affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises. If you have done so, then you are one of the credible and living testaments aware of its advantages and disadvantages. Your customers will then feel the sincerity and truthfulness in you and this will trigger them to try them out for themselves.

Many affiliate marketers make these mistakes and pay dearly for their actions. To not fall into the same situation they have been in, try to do everything to avoid making these same mistakes.

Planning and Timing is key. Take the time to properly analyze your marketing strategy and check if you are on the right track. If done properly, you will be able to maximize your affiliate marketing program and earn higher profits.

Patience and Persistence will take you to your business goals.

How Do I Choose The Best Program Or Product To Promote

How to choose between affiliate programs and products for promotion.

People that are new to affiliate marketing have to face hard decisions.  There are thousands of programs available, and choosing which ones to promote can be difficult. There are thousands of affiliate programs out there.

However, it is better to be selective upfront; promoting the wrong type of affiliate programs can cause you to waste a lot of time and miss out on commissions. Here are some tips to help you choose which affiliate programs are right for you:

Keep Your Target Market in Mind
When comparing affiliate programs, it is important to remember who your target market is. What type of products do they want to purchase? If your target market is people interested in quick and easy meals, putting ads for cell phones on your site doesn’t make sense.

Do You Stand Behind The Product?
Are you proud to promote the product? If you have mixed feelings about the product, don’t promote it. It doesn’t matter how popular a product is or how well it sells; if you wouldn’t recommend the product to a friend, don’t waste your time on it.

Know What You Are Getting Paid For

Most affiliate programs will pay you a commission on the sale of an item; however, some will pay per lead or per click. This information can help you choose between programs. You may think you will earn more with a pay per lead plan, as it may be easier to get someone to click on ad versus buy a product.

However, you could earn more by promoting a product that pays per sale. For instance, if you get paid $1 per lead, you will need 100 people to take action to earn $100. If you get paid 10% commission on a 100 product, you only need 10 people to take action in order to earn the same $100.

Commission Rates
When comparing affiliate programs, don’t be fooled by simply comparing the commission rates; a commission of 20% on a $50 product is $10 while a commission of 50% on a $10 product is only $5. You will earn more by promoting the product that pays a lower commission.

Product Price
If a product is priced too low, you will have to sell a lot of that item in order to earn a decent commission, and if a product is priced too high, there may not be enough people willing to pay for it. When choosing between affiliate programs, try to find a product that is moderately priced – not too low and not too high.

Commission Payouts
Different companies will have different ways of completing your payments. Some may require you to earn a certain amount before they will send you payment; some may only pay at certain times of the month. Know what their rules are before you spend a lot of time promoting a product.

There are just some of the things to research before you spend valuable time and money promoting someone’s products. The idea here is to increase your income online and find the way that is simplest and easiest for you to do it.

Affiliate Marketing – Create Visitor Value First By Giving Away Freebies

How giving away free information can help your affiliate sales

Giving away information is a great way to boost your affiliate sales. People love to get something for free. You can use the “free information” tool several different ways in order to increase your sales.

Cosmetics companies, for instance, are famous for offering a customer a “free gift” if they spend over a certain dollar amount. People will buy things they had no intention of buying, just to get the free gift. Like the cosmetics companies, you can also offer information as a free bonus after a purchase has been made. Ask the buyer to send you a receipt, as to make sure that their order has gone through.

If you are not sure what to offer, take a look at the product you are promoting and think about what the consumer would find helpful. If you are promoting a baby product, perhaps you can offer a bonus report on a topic parents would find interesting, such as keeping babies healthy during flu season or a how-to report on making baby food.

Offering free information up front can help you build your mailing list. If you stay in contact with your mailing list and give them information they find helpful, they will trust you and will be more likely to buy from you.

Try offering e-courses on topics relating to the products you are promoting. For instance, if your target market is parents that stick to tight budgets, and you would like to promote an e-book that explains how families can save money on vacations, offer an e-course that gives a little information on the subject. Send an email each day with a “lesson” or “tip” from the e-book. Make sure you let your subscribers know that if they want to learn even more, they can purchase the book.

Once your subscribers have received all the lessons from your e-course, keep sending them periodic “drip” emails; you don’t want to bombard them with messages every day, but you do want to stay in contact with them. You can also promote other budget-friendly travel products to this mailing list, such as discount airline tickets, hotels, luggage, and more.

Since you already know that the subscribers of this list are interested in saving money on vacations, perhaps they are interested in other money saving topics. Create more e-courses about budgeting and send them the links to sign up for those courses. Use the emails you send in those courses to promote other products.

It doesn’t matter what product you are promoting, or whether it is a tangible product or a digital one. You cannot give too much information away. Using information to explain the product you are using, its features, and the benefits the customer will receive once they purchase the product will only help to increase your sales.

How Do I Find Good Affiliate Marketing Programs?

How To Find Affiliate Marketing Programs To Promote

If you are new to affiliate marketing, you may be surprised to learn that finding an affiliate program to promote is actually quite easy. Many companies are aware of the benefits they receive with having an affiliate program; in fact, it is hard to find a company that doesn’t offer one.

Affiliate networks, such as Commission Junction (www.cj.com) and Linkshare (www.linkshare.com) manage the affiliate programs for a vast number of companies. The benefits of going through an affiliate network are: you can find products to suit a wide variety of target markets; you only have to visit one website to create links and track information; and your paychecks will come from one company.

There are downsides, as well. For instance, the company that is offering the affiliate program has to pay the affiliate network a fee for handling their program. This takes away from the amount of money they can offer you. You may be able to earn more by promoting a product that is made by a company that handles their own affiliate program.

You can also find programs simply by visiting the website of a company you would like to partner with as an affiliate. Start scanning the site for a link that says something such as “affiliates”, “associates”, or something along those lines. This may be found at the bottom of the home page or you may have to click on “about us” or “contact us” to get to the right link.

Once you find the right link, there should be information on how you can sign up as an affiliate. There may be a sign up page on the site or the site may refer you to visit another page where you can sign up.

When you fill out the sign-up form, you will either be accepted right away, or the company will let you know they are reviewing your site. Some programs are very selective. They may require that your website have a certain amount of traffic, for instance, or they may want to make sure the content on your site is appropriate for the type of products that they offer.

If you do not get accepted into a program right away, do not worry. There are many other programs to choose from. If you have your heart set on a certain program and you are denied, take some time to build up the traffic on your site and apply again in the future.

If you visit a company’s website and you cannot find any information about their affiliate program, send them an email and ask if they have one. Maybe they have been thinking about starting one and they just haven’t gotten around to it yet. By joining as one of their first affiliates, you may be able to negotiate your commission terms.
