Internet Marketers, Follow Only Successful Online Experts

Follow The Experts Who Do What They Teach
Copyright 2010 by Willie Crawford

As I’m sure that you realize, not all online marketing experts are the same. Some are only interested in your money, and they know that the quickest and easiest wayto get it is to sell you “the dream.”

Many so-called experts have never done what they teach. They come online, survey the landscape, and decide that teaching is easier than doing. So they hire a ghostwriter to write an ebook, or worse, they write an ebook filled with their theories. Then they roll this ebook out with lots of fan fare, selling it to unsuspecting newbies.

Buyers of the above ebook, read maybe half way through it, spot another shiny object, and are off to try what sounds like a faster, easier way.

So how do you avoid falling into this and a dozen other traps?

There are two ways that I’ll recommend.

1) Use tools such as the search engines to investigate the marketer or company before spending a penny with them. The internet is very inter-connected AND transparent. It’s nearly impossible to have a serious online presence and not be very visible in the search engines. For example, if you were to “google” my name, you would find over 2 million returns, and most of them would be me!

If I googled someone, or a company’s name, and couldn’t find it, I’d definitely ask why. I’d also probably start running in the opposite direction as fast as possible, with one hand on my wallet.

2) Follow the experts who actually do what they teach. Ifyou can’t see that they do what they teach, there is a good chance that they don’t, and the reason may be that they are not sure that it will work. As you look to see that theyare actually doing what they teach, also put it through the common sense test.

As an example, many of my friends and mentors teach that your business cannot grow beyond a certain point withyou trying to do everything in your business. When you first read that, you may ask yourself if this is just a sales ploy. So you observe top online marketers and notice that they have copywriters, programmers, operation managers, affiliate managers, webmasters, graphic artists, ghostwriters, email managers, virtual assistants, etc., working for them.

Then you shift to the offline world and notice that in the most successful restaurants, the owner is not in the back washing dishes, cooking, or supervising waiters. He is not on the cash register or waiting on tables. Instead he maybe wandering the floor and “hob knobbing” with customers, making them feel important. He may be just observing his business, looking for areas that can be improved and places where employees may need more training.

I’m sure that you’re beginning to get my point now. You often wonder if a marketer recommends that you do something because it will make him a profit, or if he really believes what he is recommending. Observing that he is actually doing it himself… that he believes in what he teaches enough to use it in his business, is very powerful.

As a personal example, I preach that you should outsource as much as possible, and focus on growing and managing your business. I know how to do many of the day-to-day tasks of running an online enterprise. After 14 years I’ve tried doing many of them, and become very good at some of them. However, I personally outsource most jobs related to graphics, copywriting, webmastering, programming, building mini-nets, keyword research, and customer service.

I have full-time people working exclusively for me, who handle most of these tasks. It took a while, but I finally realized that these people don’t cost me money, they make me money.

I do what my good friend Maria Gudelis calls engaging in talent arbitrage.

Maria has a very in-depth, yet inexpensive, course on being an offline consultant. I’ve gone completely through that course a dozen times, and have it memorized, AND do what she teaches. One of the things that she teaches is that you land offline consulting clients, and define what they need, etc., but that you don’t do most of the work. You pass it off to outsourced talent as soon as possible, but you pocket most of the fees collected at the same time. I follow Maria because I can see that she does what she teaches.

By the way, I encourage you to check out Maria’s coursein being an offline consultant. You’ll find it at: http://timic.org/Maria

I mentioned earlier that you should check out the person that you’re following. Another way that I do that is by looking at whether or not what they teach agrees with what other verified experts teach. One of my favorite experts is Dan Kennedy, and Maria’s teachings totally agree with what Dan teaches as far as how to leverage your business, and which segment of the market you should go after. Incidentally, you should go after segments of the market that HAVE money and are willing to spend it on you and your products or services.

I’ll wrap up this article, but share more of my thoughts and observations soon. In the meantime, develop the habit of really noticing whether your favorite guru actually does what he teaches. That could make a huge difference in your bottomline.

Set Your Goals, Work Backwards And Break Then Down

Break Your Business Goals Down Into Smaller Bite Size Tasks

Any successful business owner will tell you that setting goals is a very important part of their success. Goals serve as a business roadmap. Without them, you will never know if you are accomplishing new things or growing in your business.

Setting a big, long term goal can help you realize where you would like to be in five or ten years. However, that big goal can also be very daunting. For example, if your long term goal is to make $70,000 per year and you are currently making $15,000 per year, you may feel frustrated and confused on how to even start to accomplish that goal.

When you face a daunting task, you can easily feel stressed. To avoid feeling stressed, you may put off any action toward your goal. This is the equivalent of setting yourself up for failure. If your goals cannot be reached, you may suffer a drop in self-esteem and feel incapable of taking on your new challenges.

Breaking your large goals down into smaller goals is a great idea. This can help you feel productive and motivate you to reach for more difficult goals in the future. Whenever you find yourself having a bad day, simply look back over the things you have already accomplished for a great confidence booster.

In order to break your goals down, start with your largest goal and work backwards. If your long term goal is 5 years away, break that down into a 3 year goal. What will you have accomplished by then?

When your 3 year goal is set, start thinking about your 1 year goal. Where will you be 1 year from now. Once you have set your 1 year goal, plan out what your 6 month goal will be.

For example, if you are in direct sales and you want to have a team of 100 consultants below you, your 3 year goal would be to have a team of about 60 consultants below you.

Your one year goal would be to have about 20 consultants on your team, and your 6 month goal would be to have a team of 10 consultants.

To get those figures, we divided 100 consultants by 5 years. The answer is, of course, 20. To achieve that goal, you would need to add 20 consultants to your team each year.

When you look at the big goal of recruiting 100 people, it may seem almost impossible. But when you break it down into a smaller goal of recruiting 20 people per year, or 10 every 6 months, it seems more doable.

You can apply this same technique to your own personal goals. Just start big, and slowly work backwards. You’ll be creating an easy path to follow.

How Google Adsense Can Grow Your Business

If you publish a web site as part of your home business, you could benefit from displaying contextually relevant advertisements on that website. With Google Adsense, you gain a percentage of the advertising revenue generated when visitors to your site click on advertisements for other sites.

Sure, it may seem strange to make money by having people navigate away from your site to a similar one. However, the program is free for you to use, and you do make money each time some one clicks on an advertisement.

Google also matches specific advertisements to your site by both keywords and similarities in content, so if you are the sort that believes that competition is ultimately a good thing then Google Adsense is right up your alley.

If not, well, the good news is that you can set a filter to prevent competitor’s advertisements from appearing on your site. You can also customize the advertisements to blend in with your over all web design.

While some webmasters build websites specifically geared toward promoting their advertisers, others use Google Adsense simply to supplement their existing site.

Google Adsense helps your business grow by adding to the revenues, but it also gives you needed exposure for your business. This can be especially crucial when you are just starting out.

If you do opt to use Google Adsense, it helps to have a website that contains a specific focus or target key word phrase. This way it is easier for Google to match appropriate advertisers to your site. The benefit to you would be having closely related advertisements that would attract, rather than pull you away from your focus or product.

Know your clients and prospective customers. Know and understand who they are and what they want. When you take the time to do this, you can help ensure that they are not only visiting your business site, but that they are interested in the advertising you offer on your page.

With Google Adsense, older is better. Be aware that the longer a website is on the web the higher it will rank in search engines. The higher it ranks with search engines the more likely people will navigate to that website.

It could take some time to build up visitor traffic in order for Google Adsense to truly begin to work for you. This is helpful information to take into consideration when doing your research. Allow for some time for your site to mature in the search engines.

If you decide to just go for it and try Google Adsense you can track the effectiveness of your website or of specific advertisement placement by using different channels and sub channels within Google. Using these channels will allow you to know if the specific advertisements on your website are generating money.

You should give this experiment some time before determining your results. Using channels and sub channels to track advertisements performance will help you to experiment with the advertisement size, color and placement that works best for you and your business.

Watching how your advertising is performing for you will allow you to adjust accordingly to increase your revenues as you go.

Google Adsense is free and you are free to test it out on your website to see how it affects your website traffic and sales. Realistically, you could earn from $0.03 to $5.00 per click. Google Adsense can help you and your home business to thrive, but as with any change you make concerning your business, be realistic and do the appropriate research first.

You can use Google Adsense to build revenues when you are starting out your own online business. Do your keyword and market research, and know what your clients want and need, and are willing to pay for. That will turn into one of your niche markets.

Dr Mani Looks At Refunds A Different Way

I receive several good newsletters over the course of a day and Dr Mani’s newsletter is one I always look forward to getting. You should too.

Today I was reading up on how he looks at refunds on digital products. This is great information! Refunds seem to frustrate people and it is all just the cost of doing business, but here is how Dr Mani breaks it all down.

At the end of his article he says to share this with whoever might be able to use this information. Check out his product catalogue to see how he really walks his talk.

“A Different Way To Look At Refunds” by Dr Mani

It hurts whenever someone asks for a refund after you’ve
made a sale.It annoys to see pirates distributing your digital product
all over the Web.BUT… it’s ok – if you look at it in a different way.

Look, I’ve created info products that talk about this very
problem – because I know how big it is.

In “Don’t Get Mad – Get Even, I shared some powerful methods
to protect your digital content against theft.

And in “Refund Profit Secrets”, I teach a system that will
let you profit even after someone refunds your product.

Both of these products, however, are based on one common
factor…

A DIFFERENT Way Of Looking At Things!

This is it.

“You Don’t Profit From The FIRST Sale!”

At least, not in information marketing.

Why?

1. The first sale is the hardest to make.  You need to make
a serious effort to convince a hesitant prospect to buy
from you.  You need to throw in bonuses, discounts and
make an irresistible offer.

2. The first sale is the easiest to lose. If your product
doesn’t live up to whatever expectations your sales copy
raised in the buyer’s mind, you’ll be hit with a refund.

3. The first sale is when you gain mindshare.  A buyer is
either delighted with what you sold them – or not.  And if
not, the chances of your selling anything else to them
just went out the window.

And behind these things lies one essential factor…

T R U S T

Folks don’t know you from every other huckster out there on
the World Wide Web.  Why should they believe your over-hyped
promises?  What makes you different from all the others?
Where is the value for them?

These questions will be answered by your first product.

But to make that first sale, you’ll have to work harder,
spend more on advertising, and jump through hoops – and
that means, your profit is smaller, maybe even zero.

Then why bother?

Because a happy buyer is a REPEAT buyer.  And will often
buy more from you over the coming months and years.  Will
refer new clients to your business.  Will spread word
about your brand in conversations that happen all over.

How do refunds and piracy fit into this picture?

Think of them as “first sales”.  A ‘foot in the door’ you
get – without paying for it.  The chance to impress and
delight prospects you can’t reach in other ways.

Sure, it hurts to have your hard work given away.  But
by changing your point of view, you can see beyond the
immediate pain – and catch a glimpse of what lies in
the misty distance.

Even if 100 copies of your ebook get stolen, if it is
good and provides value, you can count upon 5 or 10 of
those who read it coming back to your business – and
BUYING other info products you’ve created!

The big lesson then is…

Create MANY Info Products – And Have a CATALOG

Like this one – view it now

That’s what I’m teaching, step by step, in a series of
ebooks that will be available shortly at InfoProfitz.com
And I’m following my own advice – creating FIFTY new
ebooks over the next year, spanning various topics that
infopreneurs said they want more information about.

Will some of them get stolen?  Sure.

Will a few buyers ask for refunds?  Of course.

Will I lose sleep over it?  Nope.

And you shouldn’t either.  As one of the people I’ve
learned information marketing from says:

“Digital theft is the cost of selling online. GET OVER IT!”
:-)

All success

What Is Google Adsense And Can I Make Money With It?

Paying people to hold signs is one of the olde...
Image via Wikipedia

What is Google adsense and how can I make money online with it?

If you look at the Internet a few years back, you’ll see that advertising was done in a way that was very similar to other types of media like television, or actually, more like what you see in a newspaper.

You’d enter a site, and in some location you’d get to see a banner (often these were quite numerous and very large), which would present and ad for whatever company was paying for adds on your space.

But there was one problem with this kind of advertising. It really wasn’t exploiting the fact that the adds weren’t in some newspaper, but were instead presented over the Internet.

You’ve probably noticed a lot of things like this over the pages you’ve browsed. You’re looking at an on-line shop, looking for a watch but you get a banner that advertises a car.

While you might, at some later point want to buy a car, right now you’re looking for a watch and it would have surely been nice if the banner were advertising a watch, because then you would have probably clicked it.

Well that’s also what the folks at Google thought of, so they came up with a killer idea. This is known as Google AdSense, and it’s known as a targeted advertising program

What you do (as a web designer/website owner) is, instead of jumping through hoops to get some banner on your site that your visitors won’t even care about, is you just allocate some region of the screen.

You then sign up for the Google AdSense program, you insert a small snippet of code in your webpage and Google ensures that in the location you specify, a banner will appear, presenting adds relevant to the contents of your site.

It’s very easy for Google to do this because Google is a search engine company. It looks for the key words in your page, searches a database of websites to find the ones related to whatever is on your page and presto: a targeted ad.

You (the webmaster) get a fee for each visitor that clicks on an adsense banner on your site. Now that’s bound to happen more often then with a traditional banner because people are actually interested in what’s in that banner (otherwise, they wouldn’t be on your page would they?).

But, this also does wonders for the people who want to advertise. And it’s because of the same reason. The greatest thing about Google AdSense is that all the content in a banner is relevant.

This relevancy is the key to the programs success, and also the reason why everyone remains happy. The advertiser has a relevantly placed advert, the publisher earns money from their content and Google take their cut.

Of course, as always, Google has set some high standards for its AdSense program, in terms of looks and functionality. You can’t have more than two such banners on your website and Google only inserts text in these banners.

So an extra benefit is that AdSense advertising is a lot less obtrusive then regular advertising. But this also means you should position the banner better because it’s possible that visitors might miss it altogether.

So in the end, Google AdSense is an advertising program that is unique because the ads are relevant to the content on the site. Anyone that wants to advertise pays Google for it. Anyone who wants to place ads on their site does this through AdSense, getting paid by Google in the process.

All transactions are run through Google, and the advertisers and publishers get access to statistics which help them to understand and moderate the effectiveness of their campaign.

The whole process is elegant, simple and effective from anyone in the chain, from site visitors to advertisers, and it’s one of the reasons Google are known for their innovation and new thinking.

Google Adsense is one way to start improving your income online right away. Start a site, add quality content with good keyword phrasing and some of your visitors will see ads that interest them and they will click them. Get enough website visitors interested and you will start making more money online.

Brainstorming, Is Your Mastermind Group A Safe Zone?

9 Elements of a Great Mastermind Group Guest Author – Lynn Terry

Any group of people can band together and call themselves a “mastermind group,” but finding the right business mastermind group isn’t always that simple.

The people you surround yourself with will be a determining factor in your success so choose wisely. Here are a few things to think about as you look for the perfect mastermind group.

Safe Haven

Any group you consider joining should be a place where you can freely share information without fear that someone will take your ideas or worry that your questions sound stupid.

Like-Minded, Helpful Individuals Working Together Toward Common Goals
Your mastermind group will probably be filled with people ;-) so make sure that you’ll be brainstorming with positive people that are willing to help.

The people in the group are what make it what it is. When everyone works together it’s a success.

Low Cost-High Return

Sure, you could be paying upwards of $800 per month for a “mastermind group” but do you have to? Absolutely not! There are low cost options out there and they can easily be more than worth your investment in time & money. Check out my Self-Starters Weekly Tips Elite Forum for instance.

Unique Perspectives

Surprise! You don’t have to know everything! It’s true. Your mastermind group should be filled with people that think differently than you do and have a different skill set. This is where the true help comes into play.

When you’re brainstorming ideas you’ll get so many unique perspectives it’ll make your head spin with possibilities. Get your pen & paper ready.

Exclusive Resources

Your mastermind group should have a lot of information to share but one thing your group should provide you with is exclusive resources. The leaders & group members freely share information not available to the general public. This will give you an edge over your competition (provided they don’t belong to the same group).

Keeping You Accountable

Your mastermind group should be filled with “friends” and true friends will want you to succeed. Share your goals with the group and watch them help you stay accountable. Your business will grow and thrive because you’re giving it the attention it deserves. Talk about accountability creating success.

Support When You Need It Most

A mastermind group isn’t just about keeping you accountable. It’s also about lifting your spirits when you’re down-as long as you’re not throwing a pity party – and helping you get back on track and regaining your focus.

Making Your Business Better

People in your mastermind group should help you make your business better. Ask them to take a look at your sales letters, new products, websites and ordering processes. Take the suggestions you get and test and tweak your stuff until it’s the best it can be.

Contacts & Joint Venture Possibilities

Your mastermind group should be filled with possible business contacts & joint venture partners. You’ll promote them, they’ll promote you and life, as you know it, will only get better as you gain entry into markets you might not have otherwise been able to.

Now that you know what makes up a cracker-jack mastermind group get out there and find one that fits YOU. Of course I think our Elite Group is the best, but of course I am a little biased. ;)

If you’re having a hard time choosing, then I invite you to join me at the SSWT Forum. You’ll find all 9 of the elements listed above and then some. Can’t wait to see you there!

How To Make Money With Google AdSense

If you’re new to the world of making money online, you may not yet know that it’s possible to make money with Google. Yes the search engine.

Even if you have heard bits and pieces of this idea here and there, you may not be fully aware of exactly how this works or whether it’s a legitimate way to make money online.

First and foremost: Yes you can make money with Google Adsense.

Second: Beware of scams and shady offers. There are questionable products online which claim that you can get paid to place ads on Google.

And while this is technically true to an extent, it’s not nearly that cut and dry. There’s a heck of a lot of information they’re leaving out, the least of which is usually that you have to pay money to place those ads.

Google has two similar but opposite programs named in similar ways: AdWords and AdSense.

AdWords allows you to pay money to place advertisements on the Google search engine pages.

AdSense allows you to EARN money by displaying advertisements on your website. This is the one you can use to improve your income.

AdSense is a great way to make money online, because you can start small and earn money the very first day of putting it into place. Over time with work and effort, you can grow the AdSense earnings into a nice monthly income.

Some people earn enough money with AdSense each month to simply supplement other income they earn, while others actually make a full time living from it. And a very special select few make hundreds of thousands of dollars each year from AdSense alone.

To make any money at all from AdSense though, you first need to have a website. You can use free sites to start with though, and a popular one is Blogger because it’s owned by Google and it’s extremely easy to set up.

Having your own website and domain name is best however, and if you decide to start making money online with AdSense you will learn the pros and cons of this over time.

To start with though, any website will work as long as it is on a topic that Google allows AdSense ads to be displayed on. You are not allowed to put AdSense on websites which deal with adult topics for example, or illegal topics and content, or gambling.

Now the sites which make the most money from AdSense are those which get a lot of traffic and have content including high paying search words.

Traffic is simply the number of human visitors who come to your site for information, pictures, products, and various other reasons. If you can get people interested in your content on your website, you can earn money from AdSense.

The reason traffic is so important when it comes to making money with AdSense  is because you earn money each time one of the ads is clicked by your visitor.

Not all visitors will click an ad on your site though, just a small percentage of them will. So the more visitors you have to the site, the more clicks you are able to get. And each click earns you a little more money.

Most websites which make good money from AdSense tend to provide information in the form of articles or other written content. You could create tutorials for example, about how to use specific cell phones.

You could write articles and reports about how to successfully complete a popular video game. You could write about daily news topics, teach people how to cook or clean, and even just share travel or hobby notes too.

Successful and profitable AdSense sites can be created in a wide variety of ways. Some are fairly informal and even personal, while others are professional or educational. There are also fun and entertaining sites which provide videos, photos, hand drawn graphics, and jokes or funny stories too.

Creating any type of content which is popular enough, can draw large amounts of traffic regularly is the key to earning great money with Google AdSense though. Keeping this at the forefront of your mind in everything you do will generate the best long term results and profits.

As you can probably tell this article only touches on the surface of making money with AdSense. There are a lot of intricacies, techniques and tactics that people use to try and earn more money from AdSense.

If you keep the above basics in mind you’ll get an excellent start on the process, then you can learn about additional strategies and tactics as you become more experienced and comfortable with this method of making money online.

How Can I Double My Income Online? Attitude Is The Start.

How To Double Your Income Online

Just because you’ve worked really hard on the project doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll earn the most from it. As much as we all would want to think that way, this isn’t how the real world operates. We all work hard at increasing our income because this, in a sense, reveals how much we’re worth.

If you want to double your income online, then you first must have to adjust your attitude. If you think you are not being rewarded just as you deserve, then you must work smarter or find opportunities elsewhere.

If you are going to work every day with a poor attitude, the productivity of your work will suffer a great deal. You will spend most of your time thinking about the negative and you won’t have the drive needed.

Don’t just quit. Is there no way that you can get more out of what you are doing? Exhaust these possibilities first.

Otherwise, move on, get out of what you are doing now if you must, but make sure that you have something to fall back on. We must have an income stream available.

What Is An e-Commerce Business?

Basic Question. What Is An E-Commerce Business And Can I Start My Own? Can I Really Improve My Income Online?

First of all, yes you can start your very own e-commerce business. Many people just like you are starting therir own business every day.

So. What is e-commerce? e-Commerce, also known as eCommerce, is short for “electronic commerce.” Great. So what’s “electronic commerce,” then? Simple.

It’s buying and selling stuff over the Internet. “Stuff” can include goods, services, or both. e-Commerce covers a broad range of businesses, from stores selling specific products, to auctions, to (legal, paid-for) downloading of music and movies. It has become one of the most important results of the spread of the Internet.

Think about it. You can go online, buy a book, and have it delivered to your door the next day, without ever setting foot in a bookstore. It seems so natural now, but people couldn’t always do that.

When it comes to buying and selling stuff, barriers of time and distance mean very little anymore. e-Commerce has grown incredibly fast over the last few years. Expect this to continue, or even accelerate.
