Link Building Strategies, What Kind Of Inbound Links Do You Need?

What Kind Of Inbound Links To Your Website Do You Want?

(following our previous post) Earlier, we mentioned that there is a great deal to learn about linking – and the truth is that it can all become very confusing, and unnecessary. Again, we are going to focus on simple, natural linking strategies that will work for you – without the Masters Degree in Link Building.

But right now, you do need to understand some things about linking, because you have to decide what kind of links you want to build. There are several options to choose from.

First, you need to choose between one-way inbound links or reciprocal links – you can also opt to have a mixture of one-way inbound links and reciprocal links, but it isn’t necessary.

If you have a one-way link, it essentially means that your link is appearing on someone else’s website, but you are not linking to them from your website. A reciprocal link is just the opposite – it essentially means that you and the other site owner are exchanging links. They link to you, and you link to them in return.

The best kind of link to have is one-way inbound links from relevant topic related sites.

So, we’ve established that the best links to have are the one-way inbound links. How are you going to convince other sites to link to you, without agreeing to return the favor?

It’s a great deal easier than you might think that it is. In fact, you can get your link on the highest authority sites in your niche, in most cases, if you want them there, and you are going to learn how to do that.

Many people use gray area linking practices, to employ multi-linking or three-way linking strategies. You can do this, but all you are essentially trying to do is to fool the search engines, and they are starting to catch on.

If you own multiple sites, you could put a link from Site A to Site B. Site B would link to Site C, and if you are using three-way linking, Site C would link back to Site A. Otherwise, Site C would link to Site D, which would then either link to Site E, if there are additional sites, or back to Site A, if that is the end of the loop.

People do this because they believe that it looks like natural linking in the eyes of the search engine – and at one time, it did, but that is no longer the case. Today, the search engines know if you own all of the sites that are linking to each other, and they place less importance on those links.

Another style of linking is the clique. These are usually groups of friends who have agreed to set up either a three-way or multi-linking model, with the hopes of looking like they are linking naturally to the search engines.

Many times this method actually does work, because the search engines don’t know what private arrangements you have worked out with other people. But, at the same time, it only works if those sites are already ranking high, or will be ranking high in the near future – otherwise, the effort is pointless.

The same is true for three way linking. If at least one of the sites doesn’t already rank high, or won’t be ranking high in the very near future, it is pointless.

You honestly don’t have to get that carried away. This doesn’t have to be that complicated. All you really have to decide, in order to be successful with link building is that you want one-way, inbound links.

The next decision you must make is whether or not you want paid inbound links or free inbound links. While some free things really are not worth having, free inbound links are just as valuable as any link that you would pay for, in most cases.

Again, you can get your link on those authority sites and usually you won’t have to pay for it.

There are many places on the Internet where you can essentially ‘shop’ for inbound links. But did you know that paying for links is often against the search engines terms of service, and if you are somehow caught doing it, you will be penalized? It is true.

Not only is it a naughty thing in the opinion of the search engines – but it is also a very costly thing, and something that can be avoided altogether. You can use the money you were going to use to purchase inbound links on other forms of promotions instead.

So, you want inbound, free links to your website. This has been established, and now you need more information.

Again, we’ll be posting some good juicy detailed info much of it quite simple and straight forward. You will learn how many links you need, how to contact site owners for links, the difference between plain links and text links – and the importance of text links, and of course, how to go about getting links easily – with little time or effort on your part – and absolutely no expense.
